Dog meat.In Nigeria dog meat is a popular street food. That doesn't surprise me but their dog meat terminology is rather interesting.........
Dog Meat Terminology
404: A dog is also called 404 after the French-built Peugeot pick-up van, a tribute to a dog's ability to run fast.
Headlights: A dish with the eyes of a dog as the most prominent component.
Gear Box: Dog's liver, heart and kidneys (usually more expensive than ordinary meat).
Tyre: A dog's legs. Mr Umoh claims that eating a 'tyre' makes you a fast runner.
Telephone: A dog's tail.
Sentencing: The act of clubbing a dog to death rather than slaughtering it.
I don't support eating dog meat....

NO TO DOG MEAT! Ugh, I have a pet dog, and outside my home, a dog recently gave birth to 5 puppies. Hence, bringing the total number of docile stray dogs in my street to 9....
I pray that your city hall does not shoot all those dogs.
BTW, my sister loves dogs especially Pugs but my family has no dog or pet. =(
There was this one time I was told by my grandmother about a person she used to know, back then when she and my grandfather lived in an estate. Apparently he owned this female dog, and - this is the sick part - every time it gave birth he killed the puppy and ate it.
My grandmother was always in awe of the fact that despite the morning chill (back then, "chill" meant "cut-to-the-bone" kind of cold) he never wore a shirt when he went out to the estate. She said it was because eating dog meat makes you "heaty".
Of course, the reason I don't eat dog meat is because of the cruel way these dogs meet their end. But you know what humans' appetites are like...

My grandmother told me she witnessed a dog being sentenced many years ago.
There was this woman who clubbed a stray dog knocking it unconscious. She tied up it's legs with rope. A tree was then used as a crude pulley to lower the dog into a huge wok of boiling oil. When the dog hit the oil it actually woke up and struggled. It surely died a horrible death.
It all happened in front of my grandmother's eyes. The woman offered my grandmother some dog meat but but my grandma flatly refused.

Goodness. We humans are wonderful.
Dog, cow, pig, if your only compaint about eating dog is how the animal is killed then how would you suggest this or any other animal be prepaired for consumpsion? Some places would think it is wrong of us for eating pork or beef. I guess my question then is what is so different about eating dog vs beef or pork?
