As the title of this post suggests, I am going to blog about Adeleine, a good friend of mine. Apart from being a supportive cheerleader, kaki lepak, and great company, she is also a victim of my crazy desire to take pictures of anything and anyone. Therefore, here are pictures of her, taken in Taman Tasik Permaisuri, back then on Saturday the 28th of July, 2007.
A one sentence summary of the day:
*draws deep deep breath*
Ade picked me up from my house around 10 something in the morning, had breakfast together in a Chinese hawker centre, drove to the park, parked the car, did makeup for her, walked around, snapped pictures, ignored stares from high-school kids, took the car's windshield reflector as a 'free, immediate light reflector', continued snapping, got tired, sat down, went to Leisure Mall, had lunch in Blue-Zone Cafe, met up with Jen Ric, got the 50mm /1.8 from him, parted ways, Ade fetched me back home, tried shooting with the prime lens, had dinner and shower, slept for 12 hours...
*releases deep deep breath*
Structures.
Nature's veil.
Gee, I can even see myself in her 'eyes'...
From the top.
The look, and the looks.
I Heart (censored name).
Ran through a Lomo action for this one...
Slave of fashion.
And lastly, a picture of both of us...
*
Shots taken with the 50mm f/1.8, using manual focusing:
Mooncake- half gone, some left.
Paper pineapple- folded and made by my grandma.
Little puppy.
In search of comfort.
My brother, and his binoculars. (Not a crisp picture, but I like it anyway)
The keys of my laptop.
*
In a nutshell, that Saturday was a terribly long day... Thank you Ade, for your never-ending support and faith in me! =) Also, thank you Jen Ric, for lending me one of your cameras, 2 lenses and 1 flashgun, though you do hope for the shutter to break down while in my hands =P.
As such, my super-dull, super-long blog update has come to an end, and I bid you, my blog, farewell. I shall be back on tomorrow night or Saturday evening to continue the process of transferring HTML codes, and typing.
Cheers, Hui Wen
P.S. Law class tomorrow. Volunteering for YMCA on Saturday.

Our weaver bird family has finally started incubating. The egg was laid about a week ago. Only yesterday I managed to get a photo albeit, a bad quality one. More photos will come soon.
P.S: My sister finds the bird cute. We were actually a bit worried because the bird didn't move an inch. Luckily, I saw it twitch 10 minutes ago.

The picture below shows two of the three wind chimes hanging in my house's veranda. There is something accumulating on the red butterfly wind chime. Guess what it is?
Well, it's actually an unfinished nest of some sort of weaver bird. Any birders here? Please help me identify its species. My mom mistook it for a hummingbird because of its long beak and fast flapping wings. A search on the WWW also has been fruitless so far. I feel quite stupid for not knowing what bird it is.
The bird has been diligently trying to build a nest since Sunday. A twig, a leaf or a thread at a time it slowly weaves a home. Only one piece is brought in at a time because of its small beak, then it's off again in search of new piece. Such diligence should be emulated by us! Imagine if everyone puts in that much effort in serving the entire world. Think about it.
For a bird to willingly choosing my home as a nesting is truly an honour. RANDTS will be given constant updates on the progress of this bird's sacrifice.
P.S: The photos were taken by a noob photographer using a bad camera.

»Those communist greedy pig Chinese on top will add this as part of their unforgivable evils when they join Mao, Hitler and Stalin in the deepest reaches of hell.
Down with the Chinese who obliterate Mother Nature's creatures in the name of medicine, gluttony and avarice. The consumption of shark's fin soup will soon wipe all fish. Wild tigers will also go extinct because of my race and the money grubbing poachers they support. SARS wrought death and suffering on us all because some wretched fools in China must eat civet cats. Pollution is slowly annihilating life in all rivers of China. Woe to all who rape the Earth like lust filled maniacs.
Shark's fin soup is a must for Chinese. A course dinner is not complete without shark's fin soup. What narrow minded reckless humans we are! Sharks which are endangered are just harvested like that without any foresight. Why pity sharks when they are dangerous human killers? Well anyone who says they are dangerous human killers are extremely shallow indeed. With less than ten people killed a year they are hardly dangerous. Believe in Jaws-like movies is truly moronic. Sharks don't deserved to be wiped out. If they are to be wiped out why don't we kill all politicians using tribal headhunting methods thousands as they are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths a year. First let us sink all ships and boats (and perhaps spear fishers) that catch sharks!
With about a billion potential shark fin consumers they will go extinct. As cornerstone species their demise will wrought the demise of all fish (trust me I have details which I won't write hear). Want to be responsible for the demise of the oceans themselves? I'm quite ashamed that my race may bring so much destruction. Many won't care which includes my father but at least I don't consume shark's fin soup. I'm no hypocrite unlike some people!
Tigers are another sad situation. China wants to legalise the trade of tiger parts. Those communist greedy pig Chinese on top will add this as part of their unforgivable evils when they join Mao, Hitler and Stalin in the deepest reaches of hell. To all nut jobs who consume tigers parts (mostly Chinese) you people are also guilty as hell unless you are sorry for what you have done. Those who willingly contribute to the extinction of any creature is just evil, evil and evil. I remember some boy who has my disease who was given tiger bone soup by his mother. This is shameful. Poachers also must be gunned down to just like how they hunt tigers.
Tigers will soon be gone anyway some people may point out. At least I'm not responsible unlike many shameless Chinese compatriots. Our grandchildren may not see tigers in real life ever again no thanks to some of the useless Chinese.
SARS was another problem because of the stupid Chinese "maxim" that everything with four legs except the table and chairs must be eaten. Civet cats spread SARS to humans because the poor civets were sold in markets to eaten. People were just way too smart I guess. Chinese once again are the fools involved as some itchy Chinese morons wanted to eat something other than a domesticated animal. Anyway, did you know that Chinese civets are endangered. SARS was the revenge of the civets! Wait till the sharks and tiger take bittersweet revenge!
Chinese of course cause more problems than that. With so many Chinese I'm afraid they may become the the master rapists of the Earth who destroy more than America. If that happens I'll disown myself.

The Soviet Union apparently considered the Aral to be "nature's error", and a Soviet engineer said in 1968 that "it is obvious to everyone that the evaporation of the Aral Sea is inevitable"
Humans are the most destructive living creatures on Earth. We invade every corner of the Earth and sometimes horribly destroy our environments. In the worst of cases every living creature including fellow people are affected by our actions. War is not the worst case as we only slaughter each other for utterly stupid and evil reasons. Let me tell you about the biggest man made ecological disaster ever.
When I was still in primary school I was fascinated with the Caspian Sea, Aral Sea and Lake Baikal. They had the charm of an oasis in a desert. Sadly the Aral Sea is now a utter catastrophe. The worst thing is stupid communist Soviets are to be blamed.
The problem started when the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers feeding the Aral Sea had their water diverted for cotton production in 1918. There were no real problem until the 1960s when cotton production and water usage of the rivers doubled. Thus, with most of the sea's water supply had been diverted, and in the 1960s the Aral Sea began to shrink. From 1961 to 1970, the Aral's sea level fell at an average of 20 cm a year; in the 1970s, the average rate nearly tripled to 50–60 cm per year, and by the 1980s it continued to drop, now with a mean of 80–90 cm each year.
Here we can see the dramatic shrinking of the sea.
Here how parts of the former Aral Sea looks like now. It's very, very sad. The higher ground use to be Aral's shore.
Even before the sea started to dry up the Soviets were starting to pollute Aral with their cotton fertiliser and industrial complexes. The Soviet Union apparently considered the Aral to be "nature's error", and a Soviet engineer said in 1968 that "it is obvious to everyone that the evaporation of the Aral Sea is inevitable". Therefore, nobody in the Soviet Union gave two hoots about the Aral. Into the height of the Cold War weapons testing further poisoned the sea. By 1987 commercial fisheries also collapsed when the submerged part of Aral became to salty because of the shrinking sea.
Today the toxic legacy continues. Desert winds continually blow clay and salt (polluted) from the dry Aral seabed unto surrounding areas. Respiratory disease and cancer are all too common in those areas. The people have to suffer from the mistakes from the Soviet's past wrongs. Children paying for the mistakes of their ancestors.
What hope do you o'great Aral? From the fourth biggest inland body of water into sad puddles as remnants of your former glory.

Something is very, very wrong with some animals. We had the predatory squirrels, now we have a sadistic cow calf. This report from India details about a cow named Lal, which eats chickens. This bizarre case started of when Lal's owner, Ghosh noticed his chickens going missing suspecting that they were taken by cows."We were shocked to see our calf eating chickens alive," Ghosh told Reuters by phone from Chandpur village, about 240 kilometers (150 miles) northwest of Kolkata.
The family decided to stand guard at night on Monday at the cow shed which also served as a hen coop, after 48 chickens went missing in a month.
"Instead of the dogs, we watched in horror as the calf, whom we had fondly named Lal, sneak to the coop and grab the little ones with the precision of a jungle cat," Gour Ghosh, his brother, said.
Local television pictures showed the cow grabbing and eating a chicken in seconds and a vet confirmed the case.
About 55 million years ago hoofed (ungulate) predators started to appear. They ran after their prey like today's horses and killed them with their jaws. These creatures are now extinct. Maybe Lal is the start of a new species of predatory ungulates. Some people however suspect he was a tiger in his past life. However, I would argue he was a human in his previous life. Well, humans surely enjoy eating chickens more than tigers.
Holy cow!

Picture a squirrel. It's rather benign and at times cute. Nobody would think squirrels could do any harm. Unfortunately, in Russia squirrels are little monsters.
Squirrels have bitten to death a stray dog which was barking at them in a Russian park, local media report.
It was reported that the squirrels scampered off at the sight of humans, some carrying pieces of flesh. Apparently a pine cone shortage has led squirrels to turn to other sources of food. The report also suggests the dog was a big one and it was literally gutted by squirrels. Previously in the same area it was reported chipmunks were terrorising cats.
Whatever it is a herbivore turning predator is certainly chilling. Even more spine tingling is the fact that prey is turning on predator. Humans are the same size as large dogs, so people better fear squirrels. It seems that when times are bad anything goes. The squirrels also teach us that teamwork will always pays. Are this the signs of the evolution of a predatory squirrel from hell?
Scientists however are skeptical of the story but haven't discounted it totally. Who has more credibility, three eyewitnesses or a scientist working in different location?

I have always loved water.
And there’s something about the rain that never fails to amaze me. Listening to the thunder roaring and watching the lightning strike.
You know, lightning are scary and at times, so beautiful.
The skies are grey, the atmosphere is somber and suddenly, you see a white streak blazing through the skies. The sound of the rain pitter pattering on the roof is just so calming. It’s like I know I can stay inside and do whatever I want. I know that all outdoor events are cancelled and no one’s gonna be calling me asking “Where in the world are you?!” Kinda weird but that is always how I feel when it rains.
Whenever I stand in the rain, the water kinda washes away all of my feelings, thoughts and sometimes, me.
And for once, it’s just me and Mother Nature.

;;Guess what creature this is?
Discovered only about four years ago in India, the Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis is a “chubby, seven-centimeter-long, purple amphibian with a pointy snout.” It was found hopping around in the Western Ghats, a range of hills in western India.
Scientists have given it the name Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis, from the Sanskrit word for nose (nasika); batrachus, meaning frog; and Sahyadri, the name for its mountain home.
For those supporting evolution know that scientists who describe it in the journal Nature, the frog is a beautiful find because of what it tells them about Earth history. It is an important discovery because it tells us something about the early evolution of advanced frogs that we would not know otherwise because there are no fossil records from this lineage.
The purple frog is what is known as a living fossil. Its head appears too small for its body and it looks more like a squat, grumpy blob than a living creature.

Dolphins love sex.
Dolphins especially bottle nosed dolphins unlike most other creatures use sex not only for procreation. Like humans dolphins also use sex for pleasure and bonding. Additionally dolphins engage in homosexuality, bisexuality, rape and bestiality.
Bottled nosed dolphins
Male dolphins upon reaching adulthood usually move away from their pod. They form alliances with other males. It doesn't stop there. Most of the time this alliances of two to three are sexual in nature. These males have been observed to engage in highly charged sexual play with their prehensile dork. Some even go towards full blown gay sex.
The even more shocking fact is scientists have observed that all adult male dolphins are bisexual as they engage in behaviour stated above and also go for females. When they feel like having coitus a male dolphin alliance will search for a pod. Here they single out a female to court. Then one male will go after a chosen female.
Courtship behaviour of the male includes clinging along to that female, posing for the female, stroking, rubbing, nuzzling, mouthing, jaw clapping, and yelping. Copulation is preceded by lengthy foreplay; then the two animals arrange belly to belly, the penis extends out of its slit and is inserted into the vagina. The act lasts only 10-30 seconds, but is repeated numerous times, with several minutes break in between. After one male is finished having sex his ally will take over.
When we talk about dolphin rape it's always gang-rape. For a creature with only flippers living in a water world there is no way a single male dolphin to commit rape so they bring friends. They raid pods and male alliances (when they have their girl) kidnapping a female by surrounding her in order force her away with them. These poor females are kept for weeks even months being repeatedly raped.
It gets better. There is even a recording of dolphin rape (audio) according to this page. Here is the testimony by Dr Liz Hawkins. One day in front of the Cape we recorded a group of dolphins. And what it looked like was 4 males pursuing and chasing a female who really didn’t want to be chased. And she would basically put her genitals above the water and she’d keep putting her belly above the water so the males couldn’t get to her. And as she did that there was a really intense emission of whistles, and basically it was the same whistle being called over and over and over again and it was quite a distressed type of call.
Dolphin sex.
Dolphins are also known to have interspecies sex with other dolphins, porpoises and humans!!?! Here is an excerpt from a CNN report in June 2002 about George (a horny male dolphin) which tried to hump humans.Georges is a bottlenose dolphin and has made Weymouth harbour, Dorset his home for the summer. Thousands of people have been swimming with him and watching him from boats, but his behavior starting changing a month ago. Ric O'Barry, the trainer on the show 'Flipper' was brought in to investigate and has apparently seen this behavior before. 'When dolphins get sexually excited, they try to isolate a swimmer, normally female. They do this by circling around the individual and gradually move them away from the beach, boat or crowd of people.' O'Barry said the dolphin would get very excited and rough before trying to mate with a swimmer, possibly causing them to drown.
More recently, a New Zealand woman was severely injured in December when a dolphin leapt into her boat and crushed her with the full weight of his filthy, heaving body. A Coast Guard expert explained the behavior by saying that the dolphin had just become "over-excited."
Even Jessica Alba almost got nailed by dolphin back when she was teenager while on the syndicated New Adventures Of Flipper back in the 90s. Here's her testimony about her encounter from this page."Dolphins get excited, even when you're a human being, and they have long, long...(12 to 14 inch prehensile dork) I didn't know this until I was poked by a few of them, which was very rude. I sort of requested female dolphins after that because those are little b------s."
Dolphins get even more deviant. In Robin Brown's jaw-dropping tome, "The Lure of the Dolphin" (Avon, 1979), he writes that dolphins "engage in love-play with almost every creature in sight - with mothers, brothers, fathers, daughters, cousins or aunts. There is even one record of a Bottlenose Dolphin masturbating with a herring."
There is even an account of dolphin-human sex here by a delphinic zoophile.
Killer whale dork. (Killer whales are the world's largest dolphin.)
Bye
