This can actually be found in my Archive. But I thought I'd post this here just for fun.
Enjoy!
I found this in Reader's Digest (Can't remember the year it was published though. Sorry) A DJ from Germany came up with this idea to come up with nouns to identify and categorise the people around us. So here are the nouns he came up with. And the ones in purple are the alternates.
Anecdultery = The moment when you are halfway through telling someone a story - acting in the know and exaggerating like crazy - when you realise it was their story in the first place. communitake, theminiscing
Binfidel = A person who sneaks his rubbish into your bin once it has been put out on the kerb, so there's never any space for your last forgotten bag. binfiltrator, coup d'etatrash
Boastbuster = A person who, when asked to guess how cheaply you bought something or the size of your pay rise at work, always pciks a figure so extreme that your story falls completely flat. anecdope, pestimator
Buckstop = The space left between the person using an ATM and the first person in the queue behind them. PINcushion, dough man's land
Cosmetic Perjury = The tactful response required when you meet an acquaintance who has proudly changed their hair, face or body in a failed attempt to improve their appearance. fake - lift, undiscretion
Edgehog = A train or bus passenger who hogs the aisle seat so that you have to climb over them to get to a vacant spot. yobstacle, AisleBeRightMate
Eyesberg = The icy look a teenage boy gives his mother when he wants her to stop talking to his girlfriend. off - peek, frigidglare
Hope - couture = The item of clothing you keep for years in the vain hope you might fit back into it someday. wishfits, martin - luthers (as in, "I have a dream...")
Lovestuck = The moment on a first date when both people want to make a move but are scared of getting a knockback and as a result, nothing happens. pre - sensual tension, ankissipation
Flaparazzi = Someone who is always in the background of a live news report, waving stupidly at the camera. telepathetic, vextra, eyejacker
Knack - nickers = Someone who can't leave a hotel room without taking every tea bag, sugar sachet, complimentary shampoo etc. artful lodger, kleptomarriott
Teararist = A person in the cinema who seems to take ages to unwrap their sweets or open their chips then eats them one by one, oblivious to the noise. tornmenter, weapon of multiplex destruction
Piece de resistance = The last bit of food left on a plate because everyone wants to be polite. gluttanot, remorsel
Moanotone = The faltering voice you use when you ring work to tell them you're sick. ARGGGHcent, phlegmbellishment
Shinterjection = At a dinner party, the sharp kick made under the table you give your partner to indicate that whatever it is they're saying, they must stop saying it right now. shin dig, toed rage
Tortune = A catchy yet awful song that you just can't get out of your head, even after hearing it playedjust once. ABBAration
Suffermore = A person who is always sicker or worse off than you. If you say you are a bit tired, they are exhausted. If you are snowed under, they tell you to try it with six kids. And when someone runs up the back of your car, it is nothing compared to the accident they had in the summer of 1984. hurtuoso, sickophant
Veriflycation = That involuntary movement of checking the fly made by all men as they re-enter a public place after leaving the bathroom. heflex action
So there. Hope you guys enjoyed it.

;;Respect is a two - way streetThose who agree, say "AAAAYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
The "Aye!"s must be that long pleaseandthankyou. Shorter "Aye!"s are not welcomed. =)
There are currently two people in my life that I do not respect(to be fair, almost everyone in my family who knows the story doesn't like them) and if I had my way, I would show it to them. But of course being a Malaysian, a Malay "with all sorts of traditions and whatnots" no less, I can't do that. What more, these people are family. Mengada or not?!
The first person created nasty stories about my sister. Well, they were not really nasty and it was just a story but it resulted in creating a tension between my mum and my grandma. The second person dissed my brother. The first person helped too actually. Now, I'm waiting for the first person to create stories about me. But I doubt it because I am my mother's daughter and she knows it. And that means, I'll retaliate with words that are so sharp, they can slice cucumbers.
And like I mentioned above, I have lost all feelings of respect for these two people but I can't show it and it's practically killing me because I do not know what to do when I face them!
Every single time I face them, I will not look at them because then they will see the hatred in my eyes.
Every single time they come up to me to talk, I'll reply unenthusiastically which is very much noticeable because when the first person's(oklah to make it easier for you people and to prevent from getting confused myself, the first person is Aunt A and the second person is, urm, Aunt B. How imaginative...) husband comes up to talk to me, I will entertain him. I still love my uncle despite that person he married because well MY UNCLE ROCKKKSSS...his wife doesn't.
Basically, all I want to do everytime I see them is walk in the opposite direction.
Now, of course it is hard for me to keep my cool especially since everytime I see them, all I want is to do something hurtful to them but then I will be stooping to their level. Thing that bothers me is that I think it is bloody unfair that young people have to respect their elders when sometimes, like in my case, these people do not have the right to be respected.
I have met adults who absolutely refused to say "Sorry" to their kids when they did something wrong but demands an apology from their kids the moment they do something wrong.
My mum said to "just let it be and one day, karma will bite them right back in their asses."
I just wish that day will come soon.

;;I watched Oprah today. And there was this guy, Rabbi Shmutley (or something like that) who is the host af a reality show, "Shalom In The House", who specialises in bringing peace into homes of families hit by a crisis or crises.
And while he was dispensing his advice to this family, and to the viewers alike, something he said hit me. Hard.
"Your kids will have plenty of friends. But they will only have one father and one mother. So step up and be that parent!"
It seemed like he was encouraging parents to become authority figures and disciplinarians and stop at that. Now, if he did suggest that, I have to disagree.
I'd rather have parents whom I respect and whom I can be friends with, all at the same time. And I am extremely lucky to have that.
I can't imagine having parents who are disconnected from me, as a person. I can't imagine being scared to talk to my parents about just about anything.
You see, if my parents are like that, I wouldn't have these luxuries. I wouldn't have been given the freedom to choose what I want to do with my life or the freedom to choose my friends or the iPod that I want or anything else. In a nutshell, I might have to ask permission to even talk.
But then again, I can't say much about parenting as I don't have the experience...yet. But when I do, I want my kids to respect me and be my friends, all at the same time.

;;Things I have learnt over the past couple of days.
1) Paranoia is terribly dangerous.
2) Some people were put on this earth with a sole purpose which is to annoy. So the next time I meet this kind of people I'll (a) calmly turn around and walk in the other direction, or (b) pretend that he/she is totally invisible, or (c) develop a temporary hearing impairment.
3) You can't run from your troubles. The more you run, the faster they catch up. Not until you confront them will you be able to get rid of them once and for all.
4) Even the hardest and coldest of hearts can melt.
5) Everyone's a hypocrite. One way or another. Even those who admit to not being one.
6) Sometimes when you think that no one cares enough to stand by you, there will always be someone right by your side. And most of the time, it is someone totally unexpected.
7) When you stop having faith in yourself, others will too.
8) Sometimes, real friends are there, right in front of you. Only you have been blinded by other fake and pretentious ones to take notice.

;;I see everyone's in the mood for love. I'd love to join in, but I think that's enough "loving" for now. I'll keep it for some other time..*wink* ...making the right decision. Should you do it yourself or let others do it for you?...
Anyhoo, here's a question, what consitutes the right decision?
Is it that feeling you get when you have achieved something you really desired? Or is it the feeling of satisfaction when you have finally made a decision minus the regrets?
And how do you make that right decision?
(As cliched as this may sound)By following your heart? Or by letting others dictate your future undertakings?
A friend's brother got an offer to further his tertiary education in the UK and he turned it down. Reason : He thinks Malaysian unis are not that bad. Clearly his brother(my friend) is itching to whack him with a thick dictionary right now.
And then this friend of mine also plans to defer his studies and continue his undergraduate studies in January. Which also means he'll be stuck in UTAR's new campus in Kampar and thus, I will lose my one and only verbal sparring partner. Oh the tragedy...LOL.
And then he also proceeded to tell me that he is sticking to his original major (Electrical Engineering) instead of pursuing his passion, English Lit, mainly because his parents won't let him switch his majors. I asked him if that was what he wanted? After all, it is his life. He will be the one deciding of he wants to work with machines or people. He hesitated - something I've never seen him do - before answering "Yes".
Somehow I know that he's making a big mistake. I know he loves to write. Heck, he has even shown me his stories before and they're good. But I can't change his mind, no one can. In his opinion, he is entitled to listen to his parents cause "they're the ones paying".
In this case, his parents' decision may not be right but I guess they have his best interests at heart.
So, making the right decision. Should you do it yourself or let others do it for you?
If you decide to do it yourself, you will definitely think it is the best decision for you, even if that feeling only sticks for a few days before you start doubting yourself.
But what if you let others do it for you? Does that still constitutes the right decision?
Well, I don't know. No one does..

;;Maybe, just maybe, you're not worth it.
3 mad rant(s) » Add your own! RANDTed: Siti 'Afifah at 9:26:00 PMSu - i - cide. Some might tell us, tell me to be compassionate with these people, victims of this horrible thought but it's hard to sympathise with these people when they have something going on for them compared to others.
Are you suicidal? Am I?
A guy from my block tried to jump off the 9th storey last Sunday. A friend told me all about it and when I heard it....I laughed.
Now, forgive my insensitivity. I laughed because I thought he was foolish. I don't know what bothered him but if he tried to take his own life because of something as silly as getting dumped, then he is the biggest dumbass to ever grace the face of the earth.
I don't get it. Why do this thought even cross people's mind? Why do they do it? Stress? Maybe but it's still not a solid excuse. In fact, nothing is.
Some might tell us, tell me to be compassionate with these people, victims of this horrible thought but it's hard to sympathise with these people when they have something going on for them compared to others. At least they have a life.
Fine, their lives might not be as blessed as one might hope for but at least they have a chance to make it right, to turn it around. There are probably a million other people out there trying to survive, doing their best to live knowing that they have the slimmest of chance to actually achieve it but we don't see them jumping off a cliff now do we?!
Part of me do empathise with him but another part - a major part - of me thinks he's stupid, silly, idiotic for giving up. I sympathise with his family for having to go through the terror of this whole mess but I don't pity him, I just can't.
Maybe he thought life is a friggin' bed of roses and when reality finally hit him, he cracked. If he can't take that, maybe he will need all the luck that he can get to ever get on with the rest of his nearly wasted life...
[Sorry if this entry offended anyone. It's just something I feel strongly about.]

;;Scenario : You go to the mall and you see this beautiful pair of shoes on display. Problem is, the ones on display are not in your size. So, you search around for the promoters and when you've finally tracked one down, you proceeded to ask him/her ever - so - nicely if they happen to have these shoes in your size. And then - surprise, surprise - instead of smiling and agreeing to look around, he/she gives you a can't-you-see-i'm-talking-to-my-friend-here-you-moron look. At the end of the day, either you stomp out of the shop without your shoes or you get your shoes but vow, as long as you shall ever live, you nor your descendants are ever going to step one toe into that shop. The end.
..Unfortunately for us here at MC, Petaling Jaya, we can't stomp out and vow to never return. You see, here, our launderette is full of people whom, lets just say, I won't nominate as employees of the month.
You go there every week to send your laundry. You see no one manning the counter so you press the teeny tiny silver bell on the counter. You wait for five minutes, still no one. You press the bell again. Then someone rushes out from the back room, cursing a mile a minute at you for pressing the bell more than once. It seems there's an unspoken/unwritten rule where you can only press the bell once.
You give them your laundry bag, and they practically hurl it across the room to where you see other unfortunate bags of other unfortunate residents sit.
After four days, you return to the hellish place they call the launderette to retrieve your laundry. You give them your card, they look at you, unsympathetically, and go, "Hari Jumaat punye, tak siap lagi," ("Friday's loads are not done yet.") No apologies. It was delivered like the time the PM delivers the budget.
And the one time you see the counter manned, it is manned by idiots. You give one of the idiots your laundry card and wait for him to return with your bag. And for those painful five minutes, you have to endure the other idiots efforts to flirt with you.
Sad part is, I have three more years to go.

;;I have always loved water.
And there’s something about the rain that never fails to amaze me. Listening to the thunder roaring and watching the lightning strike.
You know, lightning are scary and at times, so beautiful.
The skies are grey, the atmosphere is somber and suddenly, you see a white streak blazing through the skies. The sound of the rain pitter pattering on the roof is just so calming. It’s like I know I can stay inside and do whatever I want. I know that all outdoor events are cancelled and no one’s gonna be calling me asking “Where in the world are you?!” Kinda weird but that is always how I feel when it rains.
Whenever I stand in the rain, the water kinda washes away all of my feelings, thoughts and sometimes, me.
And for once, it’s just me and Mother Nature.

;;Okay people. Sorry for the uber long hiatus but I've been kinda busy. Short sem, so double the workload ie double the torture..You get what I'm trying to say right?!
Anyhoo, I wanna say something about Malaysians and...staring.
Malaysians and staring are like KL and traffic jams (sorry, that's the only simile I can think of. I think I'm getting too much of PJ) You can never get one without the other...
I don't know whom we should blame. Parents? Ourselves maybe?!
I think most of us missed "Staring : The Dont's" during Manners 101.
Here's the thing that annoys me even more. When people stare at something embarassing, I get embarassed for the unfortunate victim(s). You can say it's in my nature to empathise with people or you can say that I have better manners than others
...on second thought, think of me as the latter.
*wink*

;;Wowie! I see everyone, well almost, have already contributed. Anyhoo, my turn, I'd say!
Starting off, me name's Siti 'Afifah. Call me CT, Tot, Beluncas aka Lunc and other nicknames that can be derived from my name is fine by me.
Anytheway, I'm from Ipoh. Currently trying (and hoping) to finish my Foundation in Arts by this April. But at this moment, I'm lounging at home, praying for my friends to return to Ipoh ASAP...which reminds me, anyone out there interested in going out, please, pleeeaaassseee give me a call.
I am a self - confessed night owl who is addicted to Westlife and practically obsessed with Mark Feehily (google him for more info. Haha) A bookworm. A universal music lover. A duck lover. Tech ignorant...
I live by one principle : "Behave like a duck. Keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like crazy underneath"...
So yeah, you won't really get to see me panic unless it's a major crisis such as losing my Student ID on the eve of my last paper (it happened...)
...And I love the name Acland.
