RANDTS will last a thousand years.

- Albert

Hey, I just thought that I would just put in some humour to this blog. As a lot of us are already in university or college, you would have, no doubt, assessed your lecturers once in a while by completing the survey forms that the lecturers give.

But how serious would you take on the survey? Some people would just simply put down some crazy comments just to annoy the lecturers. But some lecturers are such that they don't take things so seriously, so... just watch the video and you'll get the idea (be patient, it doesn't start with the best part).

To those in UTP who cannot view the video, switch your connection from LAN to Wireless LAN (TMNet Hotspot). It's up again, although rather unstable.

RANDT: Wouldn't you be greatly annoyed to know that your blog in Blogger has been locked because its Spam Robots detected your blog to be a spam blog? When it's locked, you can't post anything into your blog at all. Blogger, you have to do better than that, locking my personal blog which I've kept for two years!

Malaysia is one of a few countries in the world capable of producing Formula One drivers. Alex Yoong made it as Minardi's second driver in 2001 and 2002, albeit as a pay driver* and more recently, 25-year old Fairuz Fauzy was selected as a test driver for Spyker F1.

While Yoong's involvement in F1 was (I'm sorry for being rather crude) a farce, let's hope Fairuz Fauzy has a slightly better racing career. Yoong holds the dubious honour of being the least successful F1 racer of the 21st century and before he came along, I had never before seen a DNQ, which stands for Did Not Qualify.

My issue, however, is with the way A1 Team Malaysia is set up. For non-racing junkies out there, A1 is a competition which takes place during F1's off-season. Unlike F1, all A1 teams use the same engines, so the amount of money a team has is not an indicator of how well a team will do. The current driver for A1 Team Malaysia is Alex Yoong.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to Mr. Yoong, for I think he briefly captured the imagination of all Malaysian motorsport fans when he briefly dabbled in F1, but me thinks he would do better if he followed the cue of Shahrol Yuzy.

Yuzy was a motorcycle racer who briefly competed in the FIA World Motorcycle Championships, but when he lost his race seat, he retired and opted instead to help other up and coming talents to achieve what he achieved. This is what I think Mr. Yoong should be doing.

Mr. Yoong has done the nation a service by buying an A1 seat on behalf of Malaysia (along with his business partner Jack Cunningham), but let's be honest about it, his performances in A1 aren't exactly anything to shout about. We finished 5th overall last season and with three races to go this season, we're in 7th position.

Instead of continuing around aimlessly, I really think Mr. Yoong should consider giving others a chance to drive. Potential future drivers for Malaysia like Aaron Lim and Nik Iruwan should be given a chance in A1, just to see how well they do and perhaps even blood them for a future F1 drive. As good as Mr. Yoong is, it's terribly difficult to see him regaining a seat in F1.

I'm not asking him to retire completely. All I am saying is he should probably consider rotating once in a while with a younger driver. He was feted as a national hero in 2001 for being Malaysia's first F1 driver. But he'll be an even bigger hero in my eyes if he can somehow produce future world beaters.

* A pay driver is a driver who pays to drive for a team instead of a having a team pay him to drive

Many thanks Joe for the dedication. Well written, but if you wanted to attempt poetry in pentameter form, you could try harder. Hehe... nevertheless, a very nice one.

Personally, I was also surprised to see that we actually achieved the 100-post-per-month mark. Kudos to those who have made this blog such a success in achieving what we thought was the impossible. Still, I quite resent the fact that though we have very dedicated bloggers (especially like Comrade Cripple), we still lack readers and hits.

So, in reply to Joe's The One with The Endless Grins, here's one from me specially to him (and Hann):

This brother Joe I knew last year,
Whom at first I was not near,
Little did I know what was to come,
My being "irritating" was the harm.

Freshies Talent Nite (from left: Joe, I, Hann and Minh Anh (a Vietnamese student))

Freshies Talent Nite marked the night,
I felt happy, important and bright,
Joe and Hann were also well-dressed,
It was our night; we must be at our best.

Joe and Hann were the emcees,
And I, of course, the sole pianist,
Joe wondered if I had the abilities,
The answer came, "He could have his qualities."

After that we soon discovered,
A band competition that we participated,
Joe on the bass and Hann on the drum,
And I on the piano, in the glum.

Joe, Hann and I a queer combination,
I tried my best to suit the situation,
Both of them have the chemistry!
A classical me, so lowly.

Besides the bass that Joe was gifted,
With the guitar and drums he, too, is talented,
His voice, my gosh, puts me to shame,
Sometimes I wish I was the same.

Things got better as time went by,
If there were no conflicts I'm telling a lie,
Still, I treasure those moments I spent,
With them, there were lots to rant.

Euphonious 2006 (from left: Joe, Hann, Minh Anh (main vocalist), I and Brian)

Euphonious came and we put on a show,
At those moments we were not cold,
Sad to say we were not victorious,
Still we returned with lots of experience.

Joe and I got to know each other well,
And I found him to be such a swell,
His figure fit and his brain quick,
A cheerful grin you can always pick.

I was a little down and I decided to go,
To Johor Bahru that was where I would show,
Too visit Joe, Hann and the rest,
Though JB was not on its best.

He welcomed my presence and I was graced,
A wide grin again on his face,
He challenged me to try something new,
To spike a fin I had to do.

A brother in Christ is Joe,
When I'm sad he would console,
I might have stepped often on his tail,
But thankfully, I'm still here to tell the tale.

He's naturally gifted in kinaesthetics,
An endless energy, he is terrific!
We used to jog and I might go no further,
But he... he must go a while more longer.

Though at sports he's one of the best,
Car rides surprisingly put him to rest,
This man here he makes me impressed,
There's more to say, don't be depressed.

A "banana" he certainly is not!
His qualifications in Mandarin make me feel short,
He cannot comprehend why is that so,
My Mandarin isn't as good as yours, you know, Joe.

Jared, Joe, Brian and I,
We would keep each other an eye,
When one is in problem we are concerned,
Just to let him know we will listen.

There's more to say about this brother,
But if I keep you, you'll go "Oh, bother!"
Our brotherhood, I pray, will remain strong,
Forget me not, I here end my song.

A RANDT here which I've mentioned in the RANDTS group: Wouldn't it be nice if we could ever meet up in a place together? What do you say to a RANDSTers gathering?

P/S: Don't be disappointed if I've not written a poem about you. Give me time to know you more, through your blog or by chatting, and one day, I'll feature you, too! (Chuckles).

OK, I hope that this post will help Esther in her assignment. The topic that I'm supposed to write is about Unity and National Integration - What Has the Government Done and Is Doing. I hope that my post will somehow be relevant to her case study.

Introduction
Our country, Malaysia, has always prided about its multi-racial community and its culturally rich features. We are always proud to say that the three largest races, namely the Malays, the Chinese and the Indians are able to co-exist without social unrest (but this had not been the case all the while, unfortunately). Of course, there are also the indigenous people of Malaysia who live mainly in Sabah and Sarawak, namely the Kadazan, Iban, Bidayuh and many more.

Happenings
Since the British rule, there was an influx of foreign labours into the state of Malaya, where labourers were imported from China (Canton and Amoy) as well as from India (mostly from Tamil Nadu). The problem was that when there was a high population of Chinese and Indians in Malaya, they began to form settlements. Not that this was bad, but these settlements (which would soon form towns) were exclusive to certain race. There were Indian settlements where no other races would co-exist, as well as Chinese and Malay settlements. Racial integration was not in their vocabulary as the British did not encourage them to work and live together. The Indians would live in rubber estates, the Malays in kampung and the Chinese in towns where tin-mining and trading were much sought after.

With such segregation occurring in Malaya during the British rule, racial or national integration was not something that anybody could comprehend. They did not realise the importance of being able to live together as one nation harmoniously, nor did they know that national integration is the key to stop colonialism.

After the British rule and during the Japanese occupation, the people of Malaya suffered terribly. This was the moment when people of all races started to realise that it was time that they react and counter the attacks together. When the British returned after the Axis fell, it was through unity of all the races that Malaya finally got its independence.

However, though the leaders have realise the importance of unity and national integration, the people still did not have the knowledge of it. Each race would group up together in one area and getting to know each other's culture and beliefs was out of the question. In May 13, 1969, the darkest incident happened in the history of Malaysia where the worst ever civil war (or communal unrest) erupted. This prompted the government to take measures to prevent this from happening again. Till now, some measures are practised and some new ones have been formed.

The first step taken to promote racial integration was through the National Ideology, better known as the Rukun Negara which was tabled by the National Legislative Council and introuced on the 31st of August, 1970. The National Ideology was introduced as a result of the communal unrest that occurred on 13th of May, 1969. The main purpose of the National Ideology was to promote a common sense of identity, meaning to say that all the races would unite under one roof, under one common status. The five main pillars of the National Ideology are:

  1. Believe in God
  2. Loyalty to the King and the Country
  3. Supremacy of the Constitution
  4. The Rule of Law
  5. Mutual respect and good social behaviour

The National Ideology seemed to have played an important part over the years because since then the tension between the races have reduced. However, as time goes by, the emphasis on the National Ideology has diminished and people no longer understand its importance. Schools have neglected the National Ideology and lately they have begun to recite the National Ideology during weekly assemblies. The problem is that though they recite it, they do not realise its importance in their hearts; they recite for the sake of fulfilling the government's wishes.

The situation now is such that people start to doubt the importance of the National Ideology. If it is now neglected but people can still live in harmony, would it have mattered whether or not the government introduced the National Ideology? No doubt it must have been important shortly after the communal unrest in 1969, but after almost forty years, is it still of any use?

Which brings me to my next point. The government had also introduced the Rukun Tetangga to promote a sense of community, co-operation and tranquillity within within a certain group of people. Back in those days when police stations were rare and far of reach, the people in the Rukun Tetangga were volunteers who would go out in the middle of the night to make rounds around their neighbourhood and keep watch of any suspicious or criminal activities such as robbery. The fact that this volunteering work was done not only by a single race, but by a group of people coming from various racial backgrounds, it allowed them to form a bond and realised that though they may be different culturally, they can still live and work together without any complications.

Nevertheless, like the National Ideology, the Rukun Tetangga has diminished to the point where it is now almost non-existent. Lately, the government has put up calls to the people to revive its existence. But with the people being busy about their career and their own families, the community spirit has died out and people are reluctant to participate in the activities of Rukun Tetangga because they think that it is simply a waste of time. People also have the mentality that why should they be making rounds around the neighbourhood when it should be the duty of the police to do so. As such, its revival would face a lot of failures.

But that did not stop the government from promoting national integration even more. They know that they simply cannot depend on the people solely to promote national integration. Something has to be done from the point of view of economy, social and politics. When Malaya obtained its independence in 1957, the wealth gap between the races was immensely big. The government knew that if nothing was done, jealousy and envy between the races on the wealth gap would inevitably spark off another communal unrest. Therefore, to bridge the wealth gap, the National Economy Policy or NEP was introduced. Personally, I'm not very familiar about the National Economy Policy, but as it has been tabled once every five years continually since it was first introduced, I believe that it has indeed managed to bridge the wealth gap. Today, people of all races are able to have the spending power that was once a dream to many. Gradually, people of other races such as Malays and Indians have already begun their part in the economy of the country, in trading and many more. This in turn decreases any sense of envy between races and will encourage all people to work together for the good of the country.

Much as like to continue writing about this topic, I think I'd better stop, because I've just returned from the gymnasium with Joe and Brian and I'm feeling really tired now to think seriously. But really, one point to ponder upon: Now that so many things that the government came up with actually have gone into dormancy, will their revival actually do anything?

Really, I can't believe that I actually spent two hours trying to write this post.

Edit: Albert, yes, I was going to post this up. Didn't notice that you inserted some short comments here before I had it up. (Chuckles).

Since everyone is in the creative rhyming mood here is my contribution ... =P

A long time ago,
Way back in history,

When all there was to drink,
Was nothing but cups o' Tea,

Along came a man by the name of Charlie Mops,
And he invented this wonderful drink,
And made it outta Hops.

He must've been an admiral,
A Sultan,
Or a King,

And to his praises,
We shall always sing,

Look what he has done for us,
He's filled us up with cheer,

The Lord bless Charlie Mops,
The man who invented;

Beer, beer, beer - tiddly-
Beer, beer, beer - tiddly- Beer, beer, beer - tiddly-beer...

A barrel o' Malt,
A bushel o' Hops,

You stir it around with a stick!

The kind o' Lubrication,
To make yer' engines tick,

So all ye Lads n' Lasses,
at Eleven O'clock ye stop!

And for five short seconds,
Remember Charlie Mops!

One .. Two .. Three .. Four .. Five ... HEY!

He must've been an admiral,
A Sultan,
Or a King,

And to his praises,
We shall always sing,

Look what he has done for us,
He's filled us up with cheer,

The Lord bless Charlie Mops,
The Lord bless Charlie Mops,
The Lord bless Charlie Mops,
The man who invented;

Beer, beer, beer - tiddly-
Beer, beer, beer - tiddly- Beer, beer, beer - tiddly-beer...

The Lord bless Charlie Mops! HEY!

*Sigh* ... And I never thought I'd be here long enough to write this post. *grins*

Hi everyone! *waves* Perhaps I haven't been really active lately on the blog. Internet connection sucks, but then that's still not a valid reason. I feel ashamed in comparison to Comrade Cripple there. Wish I had half of his dedication and his ideas.

It's been a month already, so many things have happened. I have gone through quite a lot on this blog in such a short timespan. For the sake of being determined to see through the success of our new project... R.A.N.D.T.S., I ought to fulfill my duties here. *grins again*

Let's just say that I'm not a really experienced blogger. So I'm still learning from all of you. Perhaps I'm still observing and gathering new techniques that I can integrate into my style of blogging. In other words, I have the utmost admiration for all of my beloved RANDTSters, namely Jared and Henry *grins from ear-to-ear* ... because if not for them, I wouldn't be part of this... Perhaps not even blogging.

102 posts in a month??!! That's like, crazy. It took Random Rantings ages to reach the 100 mark. I don't know much about 1 month anniversaries, but I'm just finding an excuse to blog about something on here. *grins all over the face* Congratulations to all for a good effort and contribution to these crazily insane encouraging statistics and a pat on the back for a job well done *pats everyone on the back* (wonder how many hands I have, you thought I was going to grin again, huh? *grins* =P)

Hmmm... So since I have nothing better to write about such a glowing admiration of you guys, I present to you a little dedication:

There was a lean man named Maverick,
Whose command of English was terrific;
Little kittens he throws,
And he has corny toes;
That perculiar lean man named Maverick.

A man who calls himself Comrade,
Posted 24 posts but he's not mad!!!??
We all love his posts,
Let's all give him a toast;
A salute to the man called Comrade.

This girl from JB is called Melanie,
She'd give you a run for your money;
With her 30 comments!!!
For their attractive contents;
Not reading her posts would be felony.

There once was a girl named Huiwen,
Who's favorite number is "seven"; (i tink)
She takes interesting pictures,
Of hippos and dishes;
Go check out her posts if you haven't.

A good friend of mine named Yew,
He wanted to try something new;
He spiked up a fin,
And shaved himself clean;
And those just to mention a few.

Our Anime reviewer is Brian,
He studies about "Carbocations";
Once flew out of his car,
Once appeared in "The Star";
He's our Anime reviewer- Brian.

A girl I know who's called Wen Li,
She's the ultimate fan of S.H.E.,
Her real name is Lily,
She totally loves Hebe;
Hence the nickname "Helibely".

Member "One-Four" is called Kwatra,
That sounded like he's from "Sumatra"
He's Albert's best buddy,
He's loyal and funny;
God bless this good man called Kwatra.

There was a "nomadic" girl named Esther,
Who wondered, "What if the world spun faster?";
"Would this dangerous pace,"
"Fling us all out to space?"
That imaginative girl named Esther.

My university mate called Khael,
He drove through my heart a na-il (nail);
I said "How do you do?",
But he replied, "Who are you?";
"Same uni also tak kenal ar, Khael?" =P

Here is a girl named Jasmine,
Who happens to be number "fifteen";
She's cool and rambunctious,
What more, her blog's famous;
500 hits a day, just imagine!!!

Being our foreign connection, Tim,
The time zone is different for him;
He lives in America,
He blogs about Malaysia;
Though, I wish I knew more about him.

"Master Chief" is the name,
"Dark Crusade" is his game;
He's Jared's little brother,
He's none like any other;
Being the youngest, his claim to fame.

I may have left out some of you, and I apologize for that... Plus, did I ever mention this is my first attempt at a limerick? *grins*

*YAY* This is officially the 101st post on RANDTS.

We should celebrate no? Here's an idea; Everyone on RANDTS should post a comment on how RANDTS-ing has changed your outlook on blogging. Or better yet how you feel RANDTS has changed your life.

Here's mine; I feel that through this blog i have come to know other intelligent beings exist and that not all humanity has resigned itself to political correctness and corporate lifestyles.

So there.

Dolphins love sex.

Dolphins especially bottle nosed dolphins unlike most other creatures use sex not only for procreation. Like humans dolphins also use sex for pleasure and bonding. Additionally dolphins engage in homosexuality, bisexuality, rape and bestiality.

Bottled nosed dolphins

Male dolphins upon reaching adulthood usually move away from their pod. They form alliances with other males. It doesn't stop there. Most of the time this alliances of two to three are sexual in nature. These males have been observed to engage in highly charged sexual play with their prehensile dork. Some even go towards full blown gay sex.

The even more shocking fact is scientists have observed that all adult male dolphins are bisexual as they engage in behaviour stated above and also go for females. When they feel like having coitus a male dolphin alliance will search for a pod. Here they single out a female to court. Then one male will go after a chosen female.

Courtship behaviour of the male includes clinging along to that female, posing for the female, stroking, rubbing, nuzzling, mouthing, jaw clapping, and yelping. Copulation is preceded by lengthy foreplay; then the two animals arrange belly to belly, the penis extends out of its slit and is inserted into the vagina. The act lasts only 10-30 seconds, but is repeated numerous times, with several minutes break in between. After one male is finished having sex his ally will take over.

When we talk about dolphin rape it's always gang-rape. For a creature with only flippers living in a water world there is no way a single male dolphin to commit rape so they bring friends. They raid pods and male alliances (when they have their girl) kidnapping a female by surrounding her in order force her away with them. These poor females are kept for weeks even months being repeatedly raped.

It gets better. There is even a recording of dolphin rape (audio) according to this page. Here is the testimony by Dr Liz Hawkins.

One day in front of the Cape we recorded a group of dolphins. And what it looked like was 4 males pursuing and chasing a female who really didn’t want to be chased. And she would basically put her genitals above the water and she’d keep putting her belly above the water so the males couldn’t get to her. And as she did that there was a really intense emission of whistles, and basically it was the same whistle being called over and over and over again and it was quite a distressed type of call.

Dolphin sex.

Dolphins are also known to have interspecies sex with other dolphins, porpoises and humans!!?! Here is an excerpt from a CNN report in June 2002 about George (a horny male dolphin) which tried to hump humans.

Georges is a bottlenose dolphin and has made Weymouth harbour, Dorset his home for the summer. Thousands of people have been swimming with him and watching him from boats, but his behavior starting changing a month ago. Ric O'Barry, the trainer on the show 'Flipper' was brought in to investigate and has apparently seen this behavior before. 'When dolphins get sexually excited, they try to isolate a swimmer, normally female. They do this by circling around the individual and gradually move them away from the beach, boat or crowd of people.' O'Barry said the dolphin would get very excited and rough before trying to mate with a swimmer, possibly causing them to drown.

More recently, a New Zealand woman was severely injured in December when a dolphin leapt into her boat and crushed her with the full weight of his filthy, heaving body. A Coast Guard expert explained the behavior by saying that the dolphin had just become "over-excited."

Even Jessica Alba almost got nailed by dolphin back when she was teenager while on the syndicated New Adventures Of Flipper back in the 90s. Here's her testimony about her encounter from this page.

"Dolphins get excited, even when you're a human being, and they have long, long...(12 to 14 inch prehensile dork) I didn't know this until I was poked by a few of them, which was very rude. I sort of requested female dolphins after that because those are little b------s."

Dolphins get even more deviant. In Robin Brown's jaw-dropping tome, "The Lure of the Dolphin" (Avon, 1979), he writes that dolphins "engage in love-play with almost every creature in sight - with mothers, brothers, fathers, daughters, cousins or aunts. There is even one record of a Bottlenose Dolphin masturbating with a herring."

There is even an account of dolphin-human sex here by a delphinic zoophile.

Killer whale dork. (Killer whales are the world's largest dolphin.)

In conjunction with the o ne month anniversary I the Comrade General Cripple will bare down my opinions as laid down by the Master Chief.

My Viewpoint on Life

Life is a struggle we have to just face it. There are also high points in this struggle so we must savour them. Always think positive and you will go far. Aiming high and working for it is something we must strive for. Never give up until the very end. I will go on until the end.

The World Today

I see so much evil in the world and just little glimmers of hope. The bottom line is money the root of all evil. Influence brings money so people fight for influence. The US supports monsters like King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud because of oil and failed states Pakistan. China supports monstrous regimes in Sudan, Myanmar, Zimbabwe etc. Japan supports commercial whaling in the name of hypocritic research. NGOs and activist fight back by lobbying and shoring up support but the fight is an almost losing battle. The world is such a cruel place but at least there is still hope.

War

War is evil unless for self defence. All warmongers like George Bush, Nasrallah, Osama bin Laden, Blair etc. belong in one place. Hell! The fact is Mahathir (soot stained kettle) is correct to call for war to be banned.

Health Crises

Bush should spend money saving lives not ending them in Iraq. Failing to do something good when given the power to do so condemns a person. If we stop spending on war all all health crises will end. Failure to stop health crises shows the utter contempt for life by many people especially Bush Jr.

Technology

Technology will bring us onward and upward to utopia. We would also see humans progress faster if we stop finding an ever more effective ways to harvest lives. Soon I may be cured by technology.

Anime

I like the "lame" anime Ranma ½. I'm also currently downloading Record of Lodoss War after reading the Wikipedia entry on fantasy elves. There are also certain shows on Animax that I watch such as Black Jack. Anyway, Animax's dubbing really sucks to the maximum and Astro pulled a SNAFU on the subbing. Do my Anime choices seem lame?

RANDTSters

RANDTSers are the most hip and happening bloggers I ever met. Anyway,,what happened to Tot?

Problem with people

Humans can be infinitely good or evil or somewhere in between. Everybody makes mistakes but sometimes adults act like little kids over small problems. We have to learn to forgive.

Bye

16th July 1945

If you could change the world…would you want to?

Today is July 16th, 1945. On the surface, things appear well at the Alamos for a change. We had champagne today at the barracks, amidst all the mud and scientists and a very happy president in a very celebratory mood. The army men are overjoyed; they really think we'll have the Germans and the Japs by their hairy balls with this one. I want to laugh sardonically right in their fancy bushy moustaches (it's obvious the war will soon be won anyway) but working here has long since robbed me of my voice and rebellion.

The luminaries have mixed reactions about today. Fermi is like a proud father; he hasn't stopped grinning since. It's beginning to sicken me, and I fear I will not be able to stand his beaming pride much longer before I crumple into a breakdown of my own. Feynman, that free spirit and practical joker is in a much more somber mood than his usual persona suggests. I don't believe we'll hear much more of Injun Joe drumming away into the night. I suppose a good night's sleep is on the cards.

Myself … what has become of this shell?

Still tall, still thin, still smoking two packs a day (with the exception of today; I fear I may unconsciously promote myself to the mythical realm of six-pack chain smokers). The days leading up to this forsaken date in history have been particularly unkind to my appetite. I have never experienced such depression and such desire to retreat into reclusion since the time in Paris when I had leapt up and attempted to throttle my dear friend Francis Ferguson by the neck. God, that incident still embarrasses me even now. To think that it had all begun with me merely narrating the frustrations I had at the time with experimental physics!

I used to think I needed physics more than I needed friends. But what good is physics if it removes from existence all of mankind, let alone any friends I might have?

Katherine has also been losing weight. This whole mess has clearly affected her too. She hates to see me like this, and I hate to see her like this. The days of our courtship in Berkeley seem so distant now, I am not even sure if it is a memory or only a dream. God knows I need those memories. Memories are the platform for our reason, and should we lose them, we lose our sanity. I need all the sanity I can get in these dark times.

I cannot quite remember what exactly it was that I felt when we drove out to the vast desolate plains of Alamogordo in the early hours of the morning. Ah, yes. I remember now. I am ashamed to have felt great confidence and pride, amour propre bursting out of my chest as I looked ahead at the site of our first major test. The ranch shack housing the gadget, the fruit of our labor, awaited us. The rain was pouring down in buckets and lightning struck like warning signals from the gods. We held our breath each time the electricity split the sky, for an accidental detonation would be disaster.

I had named the test site Trinity. In retrospect, it was blasphemous of me to suggest a place of destruction to be named as such. Why I chose the name is not clear, but I know what thoughts were in my mind. There is a poem of John Donne, written just before his death. From it a quotation:

"As West and East
In all flat Maps—and I am one—are on,
So death doth touch the Resurrection."

That still does not make a Trinity, but in another, Donne opens,

"Batter my heart, three person'd God;—."

Beyond this, I have no clue whatever as to why I named it so.

The skies finally cleared at about 5 a.m. We were shepherded to a base camp ten miles away. Feynman, that eternal joker, refused to wear the dark glasses that would protect his eyes from the flash, testament to both his testicular fortitude and general lack of good sense.

The passing of twenty minutes seemed like an eternity, a lifetime. I laugh now to think whose lifetime it was. Perhaps it was mine; that would explain my wasting away. The flash reached us first, illuminating our surroundings brighter than any sun can, swathing us with colors of purple, to green, and eventually to white before the roar of the shock wave hit us like a million-gun salute forty seconds later. The presence of the 12km-tall mushroom cloud was so immense, so loud, so bright, so hot – and it was so very hot, like being in an oven in that bunker ten miles away- that I felt like I was standing at the feet and mercy of a malevolent and omnipresent god.

If the radiance of a thousand suns

were to burst into the sky,

that would be like

the splendor of the Mighty One—

I am become Death, the shatterer of Worlds.

I am become death. I led this team, a team composed of the most brilliant physicists around that I had handpicked myself, into creating the most devastating weapon ever invented in the history of mankind, and in two weeks the world will witness the full extent of its powers. We will watch and shake and tremble at what we will do to this earth and at how we will change it.

At how I will change it.

The name on my badge says "J. R. Oppenheimer", but it will not mean a thing to those Japs. I am keeping this journal as proof that I once was famous, I once graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harvard in just three years, I once was the bright founder of modern theoretical physics; and I am keeping this journal as proof that as of today, July 16th 1945, I wish I never were any of the above.

They will know me as the man who made the A-bomb.

The Return

Hey people! The Master chief is back in the black. I've been a little busy with the recently finished Feb test in school, so my apologies for not posting! Anyway I'd like to tell you all that I have a few suggestions regarding the RANDTS one month anniversary. I don't know if you'll like 'em, but here they are just to see what your opinion is:

  • your viewpoint on life
  • the world today
  • health crises
  • wars &/or peace talks
  • more anime
  • the technology today
  • RANDTSters
  • problems with people
So there you have it. If there's anything else, you can always talk/blog about it here or someplace else. Enjoy your days! Now please excuse me for now, 'cause I've got Bots I need to hunt down. Peace out!

Tokyo, Japan, 26 March 1978. Protest against the construction of Narita Airport. Photo Credits: Sadayuki Mikami, Japan, The Associated Press.

It seems that someone was using self immolation to protest like the Buddhist monk in Vietnam but this time he's trying to make it spectacular by charging at police.

April 1980. A kid in Uganda about to die of hunger with a missionary.Karamoja district, Uganda. Photo Credits: Mike Wells, United Kingdom.

There is a stark contrast between the child's and missionary's hand. The photo is good example to contrast the rich with the poor. Another fact to note is people usually starve to death due to the lack of money to buy food (there is no shortage) when crops fail.

Moyer saw Israeli flares burst above the camps, and went there to discover piles of bodies - brutally shot. He photographed for hours surrounded by the smell of death, while Israeli soldiers joked around. The killers were never brought to justice. In this cruel world Americans and Jews are treated with respect while Palestinians are considered sub-humans. Palestinians are to be slaughtered and then joked about.

Malaysia oh Malaysia.... When will we get it right....
Head of Malaysia's anti-corruption agency probed for corruption

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Allegations that the head of the powerful Anti-Corruption Agency is corrupt and unscrupulous must be thoroughly investigated or Malaysia will become an international laughingstock, an opposition leader said Wednesday.

Former senior ACA officer Mohamad Ramli Manan has accused the agency's Director-General Zulkipli Mat Noor of being "a very corrupt senior police officer who had amassed substantial property and assets through corrupt practices," said Lim Kit Siang, who chairs the opposition Democratic Action Party.

Ramli made the allegations in a report to police in July last year before his retirement in December, said Lim, the opposition leader in parliament, in a statement.

Zulkipli was a special branch officer for more than two decades and rose to become police chief in two states, before becoming the first policeman to be appointed to the ACA's top post in 2001.
Zulkipli told the New Straits Times newspaper the allegations were baseless and that he had been vetted and cleared by both the agency and police before his appointment.

"Let the law take its course," he was quoted as saying. "The bottom line is justice must be done."
A parliamentary committee on integrity has fixed March 12 for Zulkipli and Ramli to appear to hear the case and decide if it is proper for Zulkipli to continue to helm the anti-corruption agency.

Lim called for a thorough investigation to restore confidence in the agency, which has been widely perceived as a "paper tiger" with Malaysia ranked 44 in Transparency International's corruption index last year, down from 37 in 2003.

"This matter must be cleared so that he is fit to continue," Lim said. "Malaysia will become an international laughingstock if the ACA has a director-general who has serious corruption allegations swirling over his head."
